Redmi Note 8 Review – best Smartphone to buy under Rs. 10000?


Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 8 and the Redmi Note 8 Pro, the Note 8 you can say is a trimmed down version of the Pro, price is too good starting from Rs. 9,999. Do read this review to know why this is the best handset for under Rs. 10,000.

Redmi Note 8 Design
When you look at the handset and you look at the price and then you do the same multiple times, yes it is kind of hard to imagine that you are getting a really more than premium handset for the price. The back as well as front is Glass, Double sided 2.5D glass body, symmetrically curve, just too premium hard to digest the price, and add to it Corning Gorilla Glass 5 Protection on back and front. Excellent built and finishing. Handset weight with battery is 188 grams.

Redmi Note 8 Key Specs
There are two variants 6GB+128GB and 4GB+64GB. There is finger print scanner on back and handset supports face unlock too. MIUI 10 runs the show over Android Pie. Redmi Note 8 supports fast 18W charging and inside the box you do get a 18W fast charger.

There are triple slots, dual VoLTE supported, plus there is LED notification too.

Redmi Note 8 Display
This one comes with 6.3 inch FHD+ IPS display with 450 nits brightness and is TUV Rheinland certified. Display quality is really good.

Redmi Note 8 Hardware
Well its Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 unlike MediaTek on the Redmi Note 8 Pro. Up to 2.0GHz/ 8x Kyro cores/ 11nm architecture Adreno 610. Antutu score is around 170K, pretty good, decent enough for PUBG (entry level) gaming experience. Do check the Redmi Note 8 PUBG game in the video listed below.
For normal usage the handset is really good, as for gaming yes but to some extent, i.e. entry level PUBG gameplay.

Redmi Note 8 Camera
There are quad AI cameras on the back, 48MP primary, 8MP ultra wide, 2MP depth and a Macro camera of 2MP. You can shoot 4K with this and handset also supports Slomo at 240 fps. As for macro photography you can shoot photo and also record macro videos.
Camera quality is excellent do check the camera samples

Redmi Note 8 battery
A 4000 mAh battery powers this handset, 18W fast charging supported and also provided inside the box, via USB Type C port. You can expect up to 2 days of battery life and the 18W charger can charge the 4000 mAh battery for 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes or so.

Verdict
If you have the money go with the Redmi Note 8 Pro but if Rs. 10,000 is max you can spend then Redmi Note 8 is the best option available, plus if you look at it there is nothing to complain – dedicated micro SD slot (check), IR Blaster (check), Fast charger in box (check) and gorilla glass 5 on back and front (check).
