Rafale deal verdict: Congress’ writ petition isn’t significant anymore, says Nirmala Sitharaman

New Delhi, Dec 14 (ANI): In a joint press conference, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the Congress’ writ petition in relation to Rafale deal does not hold any significance. She said that the Supreme Court has gone through each one of the prospects that have been questioned, whether it’s the decision making process, the pricing or the offset partners. ‘Supreme Court in its verdict has clearly mentioned that the country cannot afford to be underprepared in a situation where our adversaries have acquired higher capabilities’ said the minister. Quoting the SC’s verdict, she said that it had examined closely the price details and comparisons of the pricing of the basic aircrafts along with the escalation cost.Earlier, Congress had filed a writ petition in relation to Rafale deal, which a bench of three-judge of Supreme Court had dismissed, giving a major relief to the BJP-led government.
